We were so fond of Mike and always wanted to make our way out to Paradise to visit you. It was such a pleasure to get to work with Mike and have thought of him often over the years.
A beautiful ice burg picture hangs on our wall from you and Mike, so you are always with us.

The world is a little darker without Mike in it but Heaven is finally gonna have a great Railroad that runs on time and makes a profit.

Madge I am so sorry for your loss. We all feel it. Even though I haven’t seen Mike for a few years now I think of Mike almost daily. I won’t be the only person to say this “if things get rough at work I stop and think, what would Mike Harty do?” Mike has had more impact on my life than anyone outside my immediate family.

I left a very sweet job on the Railway for a chance to work with and for Mike. It was the best professional decision I ever made. Every good and positive thing that has happened in the last 30 years of my career is because I took that chance and left the Railway to work for Mike at AR Concepts. He could see the biggest of pictures while still remembering every little detail that needed addressing. Mike taught me so much about Railway signaling but mostly Mike taught me how to do things the right way. Whatever it is you’re doing. Mike shaped so many of us. It’s scary to think of Mike Harty’s impact on railroading and signaling across Canada.

Madge I’d like to say thank you for allowing Mike to leave the Rock and come out to play with the rest of us. Mike was able to immerse himself in a project because he knew you had things more than covered at home. We all thank you for giving Mike the best kind of home. I’d also like to thank you for changing my life. I never really liked fish until you made me White Fish that night in Upsala. You were so nice to Herb and I that night. It was a very special night for me.

I spent that summer getting to know Michael and although the first few weeks were spent getting used to his accent (I was born in Ireland and have relatives that to this day don’t have as good an accent as Michael Harty) the rest of the summer was spent seeing Michael grow up in front of our eyes. Mike taught me lessons about being a father that summer and sure enough, the very next summer my son was born.

I never met Sheri-Lyn but the way Mike’s face beamed when he spoke about Sheri-Lyn and family spoke volumes.

Thank you Madge and God bless.
