Isaac Morgan

October 13, 1929 to June 17, 2024

Obituary

October 13, 1929 – June 17, 2024

Isaac Morgan lived his life on his own terms and he left this world in the same way.  On June 17, 2024, he passed away peacefully surrounded by his devoted and adoring family in his home just as he had wanted.  He lived every day of his 94 years to its fullest and stayed long enough to gift us with one last Father’s Day with him.  We believe that he has been welcomed into the loving arms of his wife and best friend, Mary (deceased 2019), with whom he spent the best 70 years of his life.  He always remarked how lucky he was to have found her.

Along with Mary, he is reunited with son, Baby Isaac, his parents (Isaac & Effie Morgan), parents-in-law (Richard & Diana Porter), his Great-Grandson Daniel Brown, and all his siblings (Prudence Rideout, Hettie Hoskins, Abram Morgan, Raymond Morgan, Henry Morgan).  He leaves to mourn ten children: Dianna (Peter Bussey), Holly (Robert Dunphy – Deceased), Roger (Dinah), Ross, Merle Lethbridge (Barry Roberts), Pam (Greg Coates), Lawrence (Jacinta), Bradley (Tina Butler), Stephanie (Jeff Smith), Paula (Steve Morgan), 22 Grandchildren and 30 Great-Grandchildren.  We are so grateful to have had him in our lives for so long and to have witnessed the beautiful love and friendship that he shared with Mom.

He was known as a hard-working man his entire life, working as an auto mechanic by day and tending his vegetable gardens whenever he could.  Ike Morgan’s Greens were a sought-after commodity in CBS, St. John’s and surrounding areas for many years.  Later in life, he was often seen riding his bicycle around Seal Cove and stopping for chats with friends along the way.  At 75, when most would be hanging up the leather chaps, he completed the motorcycle training course and obtained his motorcycle license.  Age was certainly never a barrier for him to pursue new interests in life.

Having our father there for us softened the tragic blow of losing Mom five years ago and the love that we had for both of them then centred on him two-fold.  The legacy of love that he and Mom left us is now our saving grace in coping with this loss.  We will find comfort in each other and the countless memories that we have created and shared over the years.

Our heartfelt thanks for the care and compassion shown by Dr. Stephen Lee who made many house calls in recent years and to members of the Community Health Support Program of CBS (especially nurse Trina Hatcher) who supported Dad during his final months.

No service is planned at this time.  We invite family and friends to join us to remember Dad on Sunday, June 23rd between 1:00 and 5:00pm, by stopping in at his home to share memories and stories.

Holly & family,
We send our heartfelt condolences to all of you! You loved your Dad so much & his absence from your daily lives will be felt forever. Your Mom & Dad were a beautiful couple & loved by many! Mom would love the dances at the Star especially when your Mom & Dad were there. Your Dad always asked Mom for a dance which she always enjoyed! Both of your parents loved to live life to the fullest! I’m sure there’s a dance going on where your Mom & Dad have reconnected . Your loss feels so great because of all the love!❤️

Stephanie and the entire Morgan Family,
Sending my sincere condolences on the loss of Mr. Morgan. Your dad, and whom cheekily called ‘“dad” all through my teens and beyond when I spent endless days (sometimes coming for a day and then not leaving for a few) in your bustling home filled with activity, people, and love. I felt welcome always and It was wonderful to witness the banter and watch the comings and going’s of a family truly centered around their mom and dad’s life. How difficult this loss must be for you all. But the memories and legacy remain as your comfort. Best to you all, Rhonda (with Jason, Seamus and Cara Mary)

I have memories over the years of being at my grandparents when Uncle Isaac would come to visit his sister Prudence, his tall strong stature & deep voice stand out to me. I remember thinking how young he always seemed….& this was cemented when in my 20’s, I was getting motorcycle license at the same time he was at age 75! I believe he had a life well lived! Condolences to all his loved ones.

I will miss Uncle Isaac. I always enjoyed our chats when I visited him. He was also
much fun!
When I was growing up I remember him going to the garden with his horse, Pete. He always had a horse. I also often saw him ride his bicycle….he was so cool!
My heart goes out to all his family. You were so fortunate to have him! You took such good care of him.
I hope it helps to know I am thinking of all of you.

He was a lucky man to have lived such a good life, surrounded by so many friends and family at the age of 94. And a great family man and father to raise such wonderful people and have his loving wife by his side for 70 years.

To Stephanie, Jeff and all the Morgan Family we send our heartfelt condolences. I have such fond memories of times spent at your house when we were kids. Getting to be a part of the Morgan Family “greens” was always so much fun. Your Mom and Dad would welcome us with a smile. Everyone crowded around knowing exactly what they were supposed to do. It really was amazing! Farming is such hard work but your Dad did it with pride and pleasure. A true farmer. Rod and Kim

In latter years we became friends as we shared a love for growing things, I looked forward to our chats usually in Bill Kennedy’s garage. I will miss him as I did during his illness. condolences to you all, you come from great stock. you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Sincerest Condolences to the Morgan Family.
Isaac and my Mom (Bertha Dawe nee Morgan) were born a couple of weeks apart and made a special commitment to keep in touch, especially in October.. Mom entered a Long Term Care facility several years ago, and I took up the pleasure of staying in touch. While I never met Isaac, we had many satisfying conversations several times a year. I enjoyed them immensely and will miss them. Congratulations to everyone for the time you had with him. A gem is gone.

To the Morgan Family; We were saddened to hear of Isaac’s passing. But given the longevity of life God blessed him with, his life is certainly one to be celebrated rather than mourned. Know you are all in our thoughts. God Bless; Rest in Peace Isaac.

Holly and all the Morgan family,
I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad. While I never knew him I can see by reading his obituary that he lived a long and very fulfilling life. You had him in your live for so long and indeed that was a blessing; however, it still does not diminish the loss and sadness you feel right now. May the thoughts that he lived such a good life and the fact that he is reunited with your Mom give you relief in your grief and may his soul rest peacefully.
Sincerely. Roseanne Veitch/Alex McInnis

So sad to hear of Ike’s passing. Ike and Mary, (may she rest in peace), were so genuine, fun-loving, truly sincere and kind people. They both loved a ‘good time’ and enjoyed dancing. We were so fortunate to have met them and enjoy so many dances and get-togethers with them. Thanks for all the laughs. May you Rest In Peace Ike

Pam & Family,
You were all very privileged to grow up with so much love in your family. It was time for your dad to go, to be with the love of his life. He is now looking down on you with your mom holding his hand. Your dad lived a good old age with lots of stories to tell. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
God bless you all!

To Isaac’s familys so sorry for your loss.

To us they were known as “” IKE and Mary”” and were well known to our Family. They attended many dances in our area. They would even take their camper with them. He loved to dance with everyone and all of us sisters, Me, Marg, Gay Sissy, Nora and Bonita. (he always whispered to me I didn’t look the oldest). Sure hope you are now dancing with you beautiful Mary. Condolences to all your Family. Rest peacefully Mr. Ike Morgan you have now gained your angel wings.

To the family,
