With great sorrow and broken hearts, the McGrath family announce the passing of our kind, brave, caring and unimaginably generous wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Catherine Ann McGrath (nee Coady), known to most as “Sue”. Sue passed away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on June 25th, 2024, at the age of 68 years. Her heroic journey was nothing short of amazing.

Sue was welcomed home by her parents, Patrick and Mary Coady; in-laws Michael and Frances McGrath; siblings baby David, Nora, Mark, Marie, Mike, Elizabeth and Paddy; and niece Alice. Leaving behind to continue life without her is her husband of 50 years, Randy; broken hearted children Randy Jr (Shery), Laurie, Vickie, Michelle (Gus) Spencer and Derrick; her grandchildren she loved more then life itself, Monique (Nans Girl)(Preston) and Jerome (Nans Boy) McGrath, Jack (Nans Favourite) Spencer and Justin (Nans Boss) Hawkins; her siblings Jackie St. John (David), Pauline Smith (Ken), Derrick Coady and Margaret Bennett (Tom); in-laws Charlie Jarvis, Yvonne Coady-Scott, Ronnie McGrath (Helen) and Donna McGrath (Cindy); also numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

More than anything, Sue was a remarkable wife, sister, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, especially watching her grandchildren grow, and cooking the big family scoffs. She was always there to offer guidance, support and encouragement, no matter what challenges her family or friends faced.

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to you, Pauline and Ken, for all the love and support you have given Sue throughout the years. Your presence in her life has been a constant source of strength and inspiration. The nurturing nature and loving presence you have provided, has been a source of comfort and joy in Sue’s life. Thank you for always making her feel loved and cared for.

As per Sue’s request, cremation has taken place.

The family will be receiving visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater from 12 – 9 p.m. on Friday, June 28th.

Funeral service on Saturday, June 29th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Carnell Memorial Chapel.

In life Sue always said, “Monique was the only one who gave me flowers”, so keeping with her caring and generous ways, do something nice for your neighbours, family and friends. Don’t be afraid to welcome someone into your home for a scoff, cup of tea or a talk, and possibly turn that into a life long friend.
