Betty O’Reilly (nee Pottle), a remarkable woman of grace and resilience, passed peacefully away on May 31, 2024 at the age of 97. Born to Herbert and Elizabeth Pottle, she was a beacon of strength and compassion, dedicating her life to her family.

 

Predeceased by her beloved husband Charles O’Reilly, her sisters Ethel, Mary, Marjorie, and Janet, and her brothers George and James.  Betty faced life’s challenges with unwavering courage and dignity. Leaving to morn her four children, Pauline Foster (Dennis), Robert (Annie), Valerie Pike (Keith), and Tim (Audrey), instilling in them the values of love, perseverance, and kindness.

 

Her legacy lives on through her six cherished grandchildren, Jennifer, David, Charlie, Greg, Kait, and Sarah, and seven adored great-grandchildren. Her large extended family and numerous friends remember her fondly. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she shared will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew her.

 

The family will receive visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Saturday June 1st from 10AM – 4PM.  A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Monday June 3rd  at 2PM.  Flowers graciously accepted or donations in her name may be made to the Diabetes Association.

 

We like to extend a special thank you and heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at St. Clare’s Emergency and 7th Floor West for their respectful and exceptional care of our mother.

 

Rest in peace, Mom. Your love and strength will remain with us forever.

Pauline, Robert, Valerie and Timmy: I just learned of Aunt Betty’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. She was a wonderful lady. She worked so hard to raise her young family after the death of her beloved husband at such a young age. We had a lovely chat the last time I saw her. God Bless
